Agape

Please don't wait to write your Agape to the Pilgrims! You know how important it was to you!

Deadline for Agape is posted for each walk on the "Community Update" page.

An important reminder regarding Table Agape: According to the "Hand Book On Emmaus" on page # 60, "Table agape is an expression of unconditional love, therefore personal names are not attached, although Reunion Group or church names are acceptable." Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Hey! Agape is not just for walks! There are people in our community that always need agape.

What a great way to serve!

Saturday Evening Service

Saturday evening Service is for Emmaus Community members only. It takes place in the sanctuary of the church on the Saturday night of a Walk weekend beginning with singing at approximately 8:15 PM. ENTER THROUGH THE FRONT DOORS AND GO TO THE SANCTUARY. Please wear your nametag, but please DO NOT wear your cross (the pilgrims haven't received theirs yet). There is no social time after the service and NO CHILDCARE is provided during candlelight so please do not bring children to this service.

Sponsoring

According to the sponsorship team, ALL in the community have the responsibility for being good sponsors, meaning sponsoring the right people for the right reasons, which requires training.

Who can be a sponsor? Any person who has participated in an Emmaus ministry or other recognized 3 day movement can sponsor a person as long as he/she understands the aims and responsibilities and can fulfill them for the intended Pilgrim.

If sponsors choose to serve as team members, they find others who will co-sponsor their candidate. Team members cannot support a participant during the event in the manner intended, such as Sponsors' Hour, the Prayer Vigil, and the Saturday Evening Service.

A sponsor does not “get all my friends to go” to fill up the event, to fix people’s problems, or to reproduce his/her experience in others. The sponsor aims to bring spiritual revitalization to Christians who, will bring new life and vision to the work of their church, home, school, workplace, and communities. Sponsors need to evaluate their motives for sponsoring to ensure the consistency with this aim.

Again from the sponsorship team: When we add names to the new lists, we owe it to the new Pilgrims to sponsor them in the best way we know how. That starts with good sponsorship. Are we, as a community, committed to sponsoring the BEST people we know for the best reason we know? We must be willing to spend some time to learn to prepare and do it right.

Being a sponsor is a very important part of your fourth day. Please pray about whom you should sponsor first.

Get all the info on sponsoring -- Then go at it! Be prepared to serve in a most awesome way!

If you need help or have questions, there are some board members that can help you out with sponsoring a person.

Forms are above in Download Section of this page!

Closing

Our closing service for Walks are held in the sanctuary of the church at approximately 4:45 PM on the Sunday of the Walk weekend. Don't forget to wear your nametag, your cross, and a big smile. ENTER THROUGH THE FRONT OR SIDE DOORS AND GATHER IN FELLOWSHIP HALL. Please bring food to share. Kitchen will provide leftovers.. Childcare is available during closing.

Fourth Day

Are you in an Accountability Group? If the answer is "No", please let us know you are looking. If the answer is "Yes", we would also like to hear from you. Following an Emmaus Walk, new members of the community are often looking for an Accountability Group.
Sometimes Community members who have been around awhile are also looking for one.
If you are in an active Accountability Group, you can help by contacting the Good Shepherd / Historian Chairs (Contact Us Page) and letting them know about your group.
We are in the process of compiling a database of active Accountability Groups.
The database will be used to help anyone who may be looking for a group to find one in his/her area.
We are looking for basic information: when and where you meet and the name and phone number of one member of the group who would serve as a point of contact.
